Welcome Susan McGrath who is an experienced BACP registered and accredited specialist counsellor and psychotherapist with a particular interest and extensive experience in working working with adolescents/ young people.
Susan worked in The Wellbeing Centre providing student counselling at the University of Surrey for 9 years. and has also worked in private practice for many years with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues.
Susan says “We live in a very complex world and levels of stress and anxiety are unprecedented. However, equally there has never been a time when we have had better access to the tools and resources to know and understand ourselves. The pressure does not necessarily go away but through counselling, psychotherapy and personal development we can react in ways that support us rather than overwhelm us”.
It is a daunting step to start therapeutic work but the research shows that 80% of people feel better after therapy and that 65% of people improve after just 7 sessions.
Susan offers a a supportive environment to help people work through their difficulties using short and long term, face to face counselling at the Healthcare On Demand clinic here in central Guildford. She is delighted to be joining the team at Healthcare On Demand, including Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists and other therapists.
You can hear Susan speaking about dealing with stress during the exam season here:
She is also leading a workshop on Understanding and Supporting Young People with Depression: A Workshop for Families and Friends on Thursday 12th of May 6-9pm.
