Last year, Healthcare on Demand won the Young Business award – has been nominated again for its work shining a light on mental health provision.
As a previous Toast of Surrey winner, the founder of Healthcare on Demand says she hopes this year’s nomination will help the organisation continue to raise awareness of mental health issues.
She said that awareness was one of the key factors for the business, as the earlier problems are picked up, the earlier intervention can begin, which can “put people on a better path for the future”.
“It is about raising awareness,” Jane said. “It is about letting people know what help there is out there.
“We know for a lot of people, they just don’t know where to turn and that is particularly so for parents worried about their children, people worried about partner under a lot of stress, they don’t know where to go.
“This is very much a personal issue for me. My own daughter was very unwell and we had a huge problem finding help for Olivia.
“Each time the phone goes, it goes every single day with people in distress not knowing where to turn it is wonderful to be able to signpost them to reliable sources that help, which is what I would have liked to have had.”
Healthcare on Demand has a wide range of support on offer, with doctors, psychologists, psychotherapists, dietitians, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists.
